Socks with a Purpose

Our mission at the Sox Box is simple: Make great socks for a great cause.  Our desire to make our business stand for something more than ourselves took root by our decision to donate 5% of all Sox Box before tax profits to select organizations.

The breakdown of our donations are simple: 5% of pre-tax profit will be donated.  Donations are made to veteran organizations within the Sox Box Veteran Alliance.  Additionally, select organizations receive donations from designated line sales (Gateway for Cancer Research, Grind out Hunger, Leukemia Lymphoma Society)

The Sox Box Veteran Alliance

We began our business focused on not only making great socks, but doing something truly great and transformative in the process.  Five years later, with almost $90,000 of direct donations made, and becoming Monterey county's first certified B Corporation, we can proudly say that we have accomplished our goals.  But our work is far from completed.  Today our nation’s veterans continue their struggle with physical and mental injuries, as well as housing and civilian employment issues.

As we have grown and gained better insight into the issues facing our veteran community, we continue to meet, and team up with, incredible organizations.  These non-profits are designed to step up and meet the challenges that face our veterans and subsequently our country.  The Sox Box will forever be a proud supporter of The Independence Fund, an organization with wonderful staff that has created literal Independence for over 1575 veterans by way of gifting all terrain track chairs.  Our evolution as a company has crossed paths with the select and special veteran organizations that fall within our Sox Box Veteran Alliance.

Below are the veteran groups that we have partnered with to create the Sox Box Veteran Alliance.  The members of our selected group are a part of our team because they represent the highest qualities of integrity, ethics and value that is demanded from a non-profit organization.  Further, every organization we partner with provides at least 75% of their income directly to their cause.  These low cost- high value operations are what we admire, appreciate and expect for such an important mission.

Visit our Veteran Alliance page to learn more about the member organizations.

Other Partners

Additionally, we will continue to support the non-veteran organizations from sales of designated socks like Gateway for Cancer Research and Team in Training Leukemia Lymphoma Society and our local favorite Grind Out Hunger.

Team in Training Leukemia Lymphoma Society

The Sox Box is proud to announce our partnering with the Team in Training Leukemia Lymphoma Society (TNT/LLS) and introduce our new ‘Go Team’ sox! Team in Training is a great program that unites athletes of all kinds to help raise money and awareness for the Leukemia Lymphoma Societies work to cure cancer. So check out the new ‘Go Team’ Sox Box Socks and if you like them (and we think you will) then buy a pair knowing that Sox Box will give 5% of proceeds back to Team in Training – Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Gateway for Cancer Research

The Sox Box has teamed up with Gateway for Cancer Research to show cancer that it cannot hide! The Sox Box has pledged 5% of all proceeds from the 'Tough Tatas' sox to Gateway for Cancer Research. We love this group because they are focused on finding cures and 99 cents of every dollar goes directly to cancer research. In two decades this group has supported more than 120 clinical trials and you better believe they are just warming up! So go support funding for cancer research and check out our ‘Tough Tata’ line. Stay tuned as more cancer fighting socks are soon on the way!

California State University Monterey Bay

A fun project for the Sox Box was presented within our own neck of the woods when our local California State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB) needed some sox. We rose to the occasion creating the mighty CSUMB Otter socks. These great socks not only look nice but help to represent the key ideals of CSUMB: Partnership, Innovation, Sustainability, Community, Diversity, Service, Vision, & Excellence. True to form, the Sox Box pledge 5% of all proceeds of the CSUMB sox back to the CSUMB alumni association.

LifeAID & Grind Out Hunger

LifeAID Beverage company came to us with a great drink and a great cause. They requested FitAID socks and after a few of their nutritious and delicious beverages we were sold. Not just on their drink, but their cause. LifeAID is committed to fighting hunger and partners with the Grind Out Hunger organization, a nonprofit whose vision is to decrease hunger and malnutrition 10% nationally by 2015. Grind Out Hunger involves children as part of the solution going directly to schools and challenging local elementary, middle and high schools to raise food and money for hungry children in the community. Buy some cool LifeAID – FitAID socks to help the Sox Box as we pledge 5% of Fit AID socks to the Grind Out Hunger non-profit organization.
